抄録	研究成果の概要 (和文) : 本研究をとおしてわたしは、19世紀後半から20世紀前半にかけてのイギリス小説に頻出する心霊現象のモチーフ（死者の霊との交信、幽霊現象、テレパシー、千里眼、読心術、催眠術など）に着目しながら、ブラム・ストーカーの『ドラキュラ』を同時代の心霊主義と心霊研究との学際的関連のなかで読解した。 また、超自然的なものに対するこの時代の態度を、心霊主義、心霊研究、科学的自然主義という三つの側面から総合的に研究し、心霊現象がこの時代にもっていた思想的意味を確認するとともに、最終的に『ドラキュラ』に関する新しい解釈を提示しようとした。
	研究成果の概要 (英文) : In this research, while taking notice of such motifs related with spiritualism and psychical research as communication with the spirits of dead people, ghosts, telepathy, clairvoyance, mind-reading, hypnotism, in British novels from late 19th and early 20th century, I read Bram Stoker's Dracula in the interdisciplinary context with spiritualism and psychical research. Also, while studying the mental attitudes toward the supernatural by classifying them into spiritualism, psychical research and scientific naturalism, and defining the ideological significance of the spiritual phenomena in this period, I attempted some new interpretations of Dracula.
