抄録	研究成果の概要 (和文) : 近年の奄美考古学の進展にともない、従来の琉球弧の歴史像を見直す必要があるとの考えから、グスク時代開始期(11世紀～)から琉球国形成にいたる過程について再検討した。その結果、沖縄島の社会変革の画期はグスク時代開始期と14世紀半ばの城塞型の大型グスク形成期のふたつあり、それらの画期には沖縄島の内的な発展よりも移住を含む外的衝撃が大きな役割を果たしていた。また、琉球語はグスク時代開始期に形成されたとの結論を得た。
	研究成果の概要 (英文) : This study re-examined the process of the Ryukyu government formation beginning with the Gusuku times in the eighteenth-century from the standpoint that it is necessary to revision the historical circumstances of the Ryukyu Islands in accordance with the recent advancement in archaeology of the Amami area. It was clarified that external impacts including immigration played a more important role than internal development on the Okinawa Island in social and cultural formation in this period.
