抄録	研究成果の概要 (和文) : 本研究は、ヴィクトリア朝以降の(というより、18世紀末から20世紀末にいたる)英国のナショナル・アイデンティティ(イングリッシュネス/ブリティッシュネス)の歴史的変容・多様化を、おもに文学と歴史学の観点から追跡した。国民国家、ナショナリズム、産業革命、都市の拡大、帝国主義、グローバリズム、消費文化、観光学、移民、フェミニズム、文化政策などなど多様な観点を導入することによって、また、英国とその外側との関係に注目することによって、英国のナショナル・アイデンティティの多様性をその歴史的背景とともに確認することができた。
	研究成果の概要 (英文) : The study focused on the historical changes and diversification of the national identity of Britain (Englishness/Britishness) from the Victorian Era onwards (to be specific, from the end of the 18th century to the end of the 20th century). By adopting such various viewpoints as the nation state, nationalism, the industrial revolution, the expansion of the city, imperialism, globalism, consumer culture, tourism studies, immigration, feminism and cultural policy, and by taking into account the relationship between Britain and the outside world, we have been able to confirm the diversity and historical background of the British national identity.
