The government has been actively involved in career education, business skill development and career development support. It has also promoted career consulting and trained career consultants as a part of stimulating employment. However, recent surge of unemployment, increase of permanent part-timers, non-fulltime employment and leaving jobs prematurely make young people's career development difficult, and these trends, together with declining birth rates and weakened economy pose very serious problems in the Japanese society. Therefore, the problems surrounding career education, job hunting and companies that discard young people were explored, and the consideration was made what is necessary for career consulting at schools to support the young people facing problems in the labor society more effectively in the future. As a result, I thought the following important: 1）the viewpoint that individuals are inseparable from their environment, 2）understanding and knowledge of labor laws, social security system and employment system, and 3）provision of information. Also, it became clear that it is effective in career consulting to understand the environment and situation of the person seeking advice in accordance with his/her developmental stage, consider the person's feelings and desires, and provide information in effective method and timing.
