抄録	研究成果の概要 (和文) : サモア諸島出身者は、主として環太平洋の諸都市に移民してコミュニティを形成し、今では本国の人口をしのぐほどとなっている。彼らが慣習によって本国の内外で盛んに行う儀礼交換は、互酬性を通じて本国へ現金を送り出す仕掛けとなっており、海外サモア人にとっては大きな負担であるが、サモア人のアイデンティティの徴としてきわめて重要になっているために、なかなか参加がやめられない。一方で、移民アーティストたちはそれに批判的で、参加していない者が多いが、それは彼らが儀礼交換に頼らずともアートにより自らのアイデンティティを作り出すことができるからである。
	研究成果の概要 (英文) : Samoan overseas migrants form their own communities mainly in the circum-Pacific cities and their total population outnumbers now the Samoan one at home. Their customary ceremonial exchange based on the principle of reciprocity which is still held often in overseas and at home as well causes cash flows from overseas to home, while the participation to ceremonial exchange has come to be a sign of identity and the ceremonies are burden to many of the migrants. On the other hand, migrant artists are critical to the ceremonial exchange and they are trying to create their own identity by their art instead of participating ceremonial exchange.
