This thesis is a sequel to "The Establishment of the National Parks in Japan (II)". This paper discusses a process of how the Chubu-Sangaku National Park, which is one of the twelve national parks that was formed before the World War, was set up. The Chubu-Sangaku National Park was then segregated into three different areas including Kamikochi, Shirouma, Tateyama. However in 1931, they were integrated and became a candidate for the Japan Alps National Park. Later in 1934, this was renamed the Chubu-Sangaku National Park. Studying these three areas from the nature conservation and development point of view, it was feared that nature and environment would be heavily damaged as a result of a planned development of hydroelectric power plant in Kamikochi and Kurobe Valley in Tateyama area. However, Association of Protection of Shiseki Meisho Tennenkinenbutu and Association of Nippon Teien strongly objected to the development plan and it was then abolished. The National Parks in Japan were thought to be set up in the interest of tourism, but this thesis looks at a side view of how the National Parks were established, while conducting a campaign for protection of nature and scenery.
